At Bellevue Sober Residence, we believe the best way for our residents to succeed in long-term recovery is to create independence within a structured environment that engenders accountability, promotes growth and provides guidance along the way.
Maintaining sobriety in the outside world after completing a rehabilitation programme can be challenging and often leads to relapses. Our approach at Bellevue Sober Residence is designed to help people deal with this and to learn new ways of living an addiction-free life.
Our approach…
Staying sober takes commitment.
Getting sober is not the hardest part… maintaining sobriety is. It takes work, action and commitment, every single day. Leaving a rehabilitation centre after a lengthy stay without a solid aftercare programme can dramatically jeopardise recovery. For many people, returning to their original living situation can mean immersing themselves in a triggering, unsupportive or unsafe environment.
Addiction-free living houses are a beneficial and encouraging option for anyone who isn’t ready to transition to life at home but is committed to staying sober in a safe, supportive environment.
Some people haven’t been able to get through a single day in the “real world” sober or clean for years. The effects on the brain from addiction can take months – sometimes years – to get back to baseline. Healing continues long after rehab is completed.
Day-to-day things, such as cooking, prioritising, organising, budgeting and grocery shopping, which may seem simple, can be incredibly challenging for someone in recovery.
Finding normality
A period of addiction-free living can be a shield from the worst temptations for those first, craving-filled months after treatment. The benefits of a safe haven ensure that recovering addicts can get back into – and even contribute to – their community at their own pace, with support, care and a system that works.
Bellevue provides a residential aftercare programme that bridges the gap between inpatient rehabilitation and normal life. This bridge provides a respite for anyone struggling, vulnerable or at risk of relapsing.
Our approach is to create a holistic and collaborative treatment plan for every resident. This ensures the best chance of lasting success with a healthy peer network and an individualised model of recovery because we understand that one size doesn’t fit all.
We recognise not every resident shares the same path to sobriety. That’s why we co-created customised treatment options to address each individual’s personal needs and goals. Residents also benefit from the involvement and support of resident peers during recovery because everyone shares the same goal of becoming self-sufficient.
